The left has rallied around a dogma of social justice and anti-establishment fervor, while the right has embraced a staunch nationalism and a desire for law and order. Each side, in its fervor, sacrifices nuance at the altar of certainty.
On the left, the unwavering belief in the righteousness of their cause sometimes leads to an exclusion of dissenting opinions, even among their own ranks.
